The mild weather has given our November sown broad beans a romping start, and already they're the height they would normally reach by early March. Not many germination failures here! Craig is carefully thinning them out to give each plant space to grow, and to lessen the impact of any fungal diseases. These can be kept at bay by encouraging good air flow around the plants, though a little touch of Chocolate Spot is not too detrimental to the crop.

Winter Sown Broad Beans
